As a pianist, skill as an accompanist is essential to a student's musical education. Piano students at DSA will be asked to serve as accompanist on several occasions. Students should be realistic about the amount of accompanying work they accept. However, it is expected that every student in our piano department accompany other students here at DSA.
Piano students should introduce themselves to the choral, instrumental, and private teachers here at DSA to discuss ways to meet this expectation. We are afforded a wealth of possibilitites here at DSA: 1. Accompanying private lessons or ballet classes. 2. Accompanying for choir, band, or orchestra performances. 3. Ensemble work with the band or orchestra or in a chamber group. 4. Accompanying a full senior recital. 5. Piano ensemble work, such as duets and concertos
