Important Reminders:

Location: All recitals must be performed on campus in the Concert Hall.

Dates:  All recitals should be performed in the months of November, January, or April during the school week.

Times:  No evening or weekend recitals.  Performances may begin as early as 3:00 pm and end no later than 6:00 pm.  Recitals should be approximately one hour in length.

Program: 10 songs minimum and 12 songs maximum, including the encore.  Please see downloaded document for specific repertoire information.  A maximum of 3 collaborative songs are permitted.  Joint recitals are encouraged; if 2 vocal majors collaborate, there is a 14-song minimum and a 16-song maximum.

Voice teacher fee:  Because the recital requires extra time of your voice teacher, please pay $100 or trade 2 hours of lesson time for dress rehearsal (1.5 hours max) and recital.

Collaboration:  Student collaboration is encouraged but you must provide a written contract for those involved in your recital.  Have your voice teacher approve and advise you regarding this contract. You must also have regular communication with the instrumental faculty regarding scheduling of instrumental students.

Accompanist:  Ingrid Thompson, our resident artist accompanist is available to accompany and coach for senior recitals.  Her fee is $150.00 for dress rehearsal and recital, and $25.00 per hour for rehearsals. Scholarships are also available.  Students must provide Ingrid with a complete book of repertoire no later than 6 weeks before recital date.  Of course, you may opt to use a student or other professional accompanist for your recital.

Reception:  Please keep it simple, like punch, cookies, or basic party platters.  Limit your reception to the foyer outside the Concert Hall and try to keep it under an hour, as other evening events may be starting by 7pm.
