Rough draft of one poem analysis is due Monday for Black day classes, and Tuesday for White day classes.
Students have been assigned the final project for the poetry unit. While this will be worked on in class, students are responsible for finishing it at home. Please check with them for individual rubrics. They will be handed out throughout the next two weeks.
Below is the outline of the project.
Goal: to write, read and memorize poetry What: *2 Favorite Poems by other authors with at least a paragraph explanation for each of why you like the poems *An Analysis of 2 Poems by other authors
*1 poem of 6 lines or greater to be memorized and included in the portfolio *13 poems of your own creation 2 Acrostic 2 Cinquain 2 Limerick 2 Concrete 2 Haiku 1 Free Verse 1 Sonnet 1 I Am Poem

Memoir Test Week of November 26. We are beginning the poetry on Monday December 3, 2007.
November Notes: Students are working on memoir analyzing different pieces of writing
Week of November 13-16 Rough drafts of Memoir Story due on the following days. White Day - November 15 Black Day - November 16

Read 30 minutes a night.

6th Grade Study Skills Students are working on final projects for this class that incorporate skills identified by the class as necessary for success at school. Requirements of the project follow as well as specific due dates for the different parts. Students have a lot of time to work on this in class, but will need to use some time at home.
The Final Due Date is December 13, 2007
Students need to complete the following for the project: 500 word essay broken into parts they deem needed for their display board Display Board that includes Pictures, a Timeline, Captions and Text. Bibliography with at least 3 priary sources and 5 seconday sources.
