Students in the HS piano class will be continuing discussion on the
Classical Concerto this quarter. We have studied the concerto
form from the Baroque Period through Mozart. Our discussion will
continue with the concertos of Beethoven, and then will include
Romantic Period concertos of Brahms, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff,
and Prokofiev.
We will continue to have student presentations on Fridays.
Students may choose any topics they are interested in. There are
three elements that are necessary to complete this requirement: an oral
report in the student's own words (not copied from the internet); a
musical listening element that can be played on the equipment available
in the piano room (Ipods often don't work); a visual element that
can include diagrams, pictures, etc. Grading for this
presentation is Pass/Fail. Any
student not satisfactorily completing this assignment will receive a
Fail grade and will receive an Incomplete for the Semester.
