MS Syllabus, Third Quarter -- 2006-2007
cornerupr:

During our third quarter, students in the MS class will continue to discuss the music of the Baroque period.  We will complete the J.S. Bach unit during the first week, and will take the final quiz over this material.  After this discussion is complete, we will begin discussing another of the great composers of this period, Antonio Vivaldi.   Students can plan on lecture/discussion of this material two periods per week, and can plan on a final quiz at the end of the quarter.

We will also continue our study of key signatures, chords, chord qualities, etc.  Students can plan on this discussion once a week with periodic trial quizzes.  We will have the final quiz over this material at the end of February.

As during the first semester, students will present their student presentations on Fridays.  Students have been  quite successful with this presentation, and we look forward to hearing more.  Students may choose any topic they feel might be of interest to our class.  There are three elements that must be presented:  an oral report, a visual element that can include pictures, posters, diagrams, etc., and a listening element that can be performed on the equipment available in the piano classroom (Ipods often don't work on our machinery).  Students will receive a Pass/Fail grade on this assignment.  Any student not satisfactorily completing this assignment will receive a Fail grade and an Incomplete for the semester.

I will also be presenting now and then about various topics that I feel may be of interest to our students.
