Accompanying/Ensemble Grading Rubrics
The accompanying requirement in the Piano Class earns the student 100 points over the course of the year. The pieces of music chosen must be composed for soloist and piano. Generally speaking, students are required to find a vocalist or instrumentalist to perform for the class with them. Students generally earn full credit for their work. However, the rubrics for this assignment are the rubrics that might follow any musical performance requirement:
50 points -- An effective, complete, and musical performance. Attention has been paid to correct notes, note values, rhythm, dynamics, pedaling, and expression. There is evidence that the accompanist and soloist have worked together to produce this performance.
40 points -- An effective, complete, and musical performance. Attention has been paid to the musical considerations listed above, but there are slight inadequacies in details. There is evidence that the accompanist and solist have worked together to produce this performance.
30 points -- An effective, complete, and musical performance. There are problems in the musical considerations above and inadequacies in details. There is lack of evidence that the accompanist and soloist have worked together to produce this performance.
20 points -- An ineffective or incomplete performance. There are significant problems in the musical considerations above. There is lack of evidence that the accompanist and soloist have worked together to produce this performance.
10 points -- Ineffective and incomplete performance.
0 points -- No attempt was made to fulfill this requirement.
