Dear Denver School of the Arts Community Members,
The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time and this year will be a celebration of a new beginning for Denver School of the Arts. The administration and staff at DSA hope you all had a fine vacation and are looking forward, with enthusiasm, to the new school year.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2009 all sixth grade students and students new to DSA will begin the school year at 7:29 am. An official copy of student schedules will be available in the commons area, arranged alphabetically by last name. Once students have picked up their schedules, they will report to the Schomp Theatre for a welcome ceremony. Students will finish the day by following an abbreviated class schedule. Lunch will be served to students during the school day.
All students will report for classes on Thursday, August 20, 2009. Official copies of student schedules, for returning students, will be available in the commons area beginning at 7:00 am. Classes will begin promptly at 7:29 am. Students will follow a regular seven period schedule on this day. Their day will conclude at the normal release time of 2:39 pm.
Parent/guardians are reminded that, due to congestion in the parking lot, entering the parking for student drop-off in the morning, and for afternoon pick-up, will be from the 21st Street entrance. Exiting the parking lot will occur at the Montview Boulevard exit.
On Thursday evening, September 3rd Back-To-School night will occur at DSA. All parents/guardians/students are encouraged to attend. The administration will be available in the commons area for a cookie and coffee reception from 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm. Student schedules will be available for pick-up in the commons area beginning at 5:00 pm. At 6:00 pm an abbreviated seven period bell schedule will be followed to allow all in attendance to meet their student’s teachers and receive valuable information about classes.
Thank you for supporting our students and our school. DSA has a diverse and talented group of young people and a dedicated faculty and staff—key ingredients for a successful school. The administration and staff look forward to working with you in the coming months and years to realize that potential.
In closing, please do not hesitate to contact a teacher by phone or email if you have a concern about the progress of your child. Additionally, you are always welcome to contact an administrator at Denver School of the Arts to discuss your concerns. You may reach us by calling (720)424-1700.
