Grading
Grading is cumulative for the entire semester. Written work, homework assignments, class participation/preparation and 3D projects are all important components of this class. Technical writing skills are integrated into the class through reviews, essays and quizzes.
Most weekly assignments are worth 10 points. Large projects are worth 15 points
Late or incomplete work is penalized 10% per school day. ALL assignments should be completed on time. No late work is accepted the last week of the quarter. Students with excused absences will be allowed 2 days per day absent to complete work before penalties are applied. Incomplete work may not be shown at a final critique. An additional 10% will be deducted from projects not ready for class critique.
Participation/preparation and critique points are awarded each quarter and include attendance, cooperation, studio responsibility and attitude.
PROGRESS MONITORING:
Grades in Infinite Campus will be updated once a week.
Every 3 weeks prog/elig grades will be used to help identifying struggling students for interventions including tutoring.
Every week, IC Messenger will send notices regarding failing assignments. These are notices of assignments that earned a failing grade (less than 59%). To verify a students class grade, you will need to check IC in more detail. Please keep in mind the grading policies as stated in the syllabus above. IC Messenger will also send out a message if the student has missed an assignment. Failing grades will be sent once per week, missing grades may be sent multiple times over a nine-week period.
Behavior Expectations and Class Rules
The sketchbook and toolbox are required in class every day. Students must retain ALL art projects until the end of the year in their portfolios for review at the Re-audition Interview.
