Congratulations to all Seniors!!!

You have worked hard to get to the point of high school graduation. You are to be commended for your hard work!!  We are excited to see where our DSA graduates go in life.  We hope that you always stay in touch and let us know your successes in life.

Whether you are the first to graduate in your family or the last, there are many steps you must follow to ensure a smooth senior year and a clear path to the graduation ceremony. The people and numbers below will you help navigate your way to the graduation ceremony.

Senior Timeline
The senior timeline will help keep you organized throughout the year.  Print one out for your home as well as your backpack.  Use it as a reference so you don't miss any steps/information.  PLEASE NOTE:  check the timeline periodically.  The date in the top right hand corner is the last time it was updated.  If you see a new version, print it out and throw away the old timeline.

Senior Meetings
Using your Senior Timeline, all seniors must attend the senior meetings.  Valuable information will be shared at these meetings.  Those seniors not in attendance may miss important deadlines and be unaware of upcoming dates.  There are no makeup meetings, so plan accordingly.

Your Counselor
It is important throughout your entire high school life that you keep in touch with your counselor.  Try to stop by at least once a semester to check in.  During your senior year, however, it is more important than ever.  Your counselor will work with you to make sure you have met all graduation requirements.

Senior Fees
All seniors are responsible for paying any outstanding fees to the treasurer's office BEFORE Senior Checkout Day.  Seniors will not receive their cap and gown or graduation tickets until all fees are completely paid.

Denver Scholarship Foundation
The mission of DSF is to inspire and empower Denver Public School students to achieve their college dreams.  In addition to providing college and financial aid advice to high school students, DSF offers need-based scholarships that can be used at 39 colleges in Colorado.  The colleges include technical and community colleges, state colleges and universities, and private institutions. The scholarship is renewable for up to five years.  Robin Russel represents the DSF at DSA.  Ms. Russel will be at DSA on October 5th, November 2nd, November 30th, January 11th, February 1st, and March 8th.  You can find her in the counseling center.  On February 10th, DSA will be hosting a FAFSA Night 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in room A122.

Caps/Gowns/Announcements - Jostens
Your cap, gown and tassel are all purchased through Jostens.  The 2010 cost for the cap/gown/tassel will be $37.70 which is due at the time of ordering.  Using your timeline, you can see that cap/gown ordering is on January 12/13, 2010.  You may also purchase class rings, announcements and other accessories through Jostens if you wish.  This will be done on the same date.  Our Jostens representative is Nils Erikson.  Nils can be reached at 303-985-0095.  Cap and gowns are not handed out until Senior Checkout Day.

Senior Picture
Seniors will take a group picture in the fall in their senior t-shirt.  All photos may be paid for and picked up 24-48 hours later at a specified location.  The location and time will be announced at the time of the photo.  Questions about this photo may be directed to Dan Derry at Full Field Panoramic at 303-909-0226.  The picture will be taken on October 16 which is a district early release day.

Seniors will be able to buy a senior t-shirt each fall.  The cost will be $13.  This shirt should be worn the day of the senior photo.

At the ceremony you will walk across the stage and receive your diploma from an adult.  At that moment, a picture will be taken of you. Graduation Rehearsals
There will be 2 graduation rehearsals in May.  One will be held on May 13th during the Arts Block and one will be held at the graduation site, the Temple Buell Theatre, on May 18th at 9:00 am.  Both rehearsals are mandatory.

Tickets to the Ceremony
All seniors will receive 10 tickets to the graduation free of cost.  After that, tickets may be purchased for $5.  Seniors will pay and receive all tickets from Miranda Odom on Senior Checkout Day.  Once the extra tickets run out, they're gone.
