A potluck dinner was held matching new families with their mentor family at Lisa and Richard Armao's house near DSA at 5:30 p.m. The regular VAFG meeting began at DSA at 7:30.
Upcoming events and shows were outlined (see class web pages for dates) as well as opportunities for families to volunteer.
Elma Ruiz has volunteered to head the mat cutting team and Lisa Beegle volunteered to organize the parents for displaying student work. These two moms will send e-mails out when help is needed and coordinate the volunteers. A mat cutting workshop will be held in October to train parents for mat cutting.
Debbie Adams and Becky Sanders will oversee VA potluck dinners and the year end banquet.
Fundraisers will come together for the second DSA Dance Party to be held at City Hall Night Club on Tuesday, November 10 from 7 - 12 p.m. A conference call will be held on Monday night, 9/21 for planning. Parent will be needed to man the doors, check ID's and sell tickets.
A direct giving campaign is being planned to raise funds for additional pottery wheels and replacement of the plexi on our hall display cases. Paul and Shana Johnston have experience with this and volunteered to lead the effort. Volunteers may be needed to make follow up calls after the letters are sent out.
