Hello DSA Community
Just a few reminders and updates
· Tomorrow (October 1st) is the official count day for student funding. We strongly encourage every student to be in attendance.
Thank you for your help in getting all kids here.
· DSA's Picture Retake Day was Friday, September 25th. The original Lifetouch picture packets had not arrived by that date - so retake day was postponed.
We are happy to say that picture packets arrived Monday afternoon and were distributed to the Arts teachers today. If you paid for a picture packet on the August 26 (middle school) and August 27 (high school) picture days, your child should arrive home today with the packet. If a picture packet does NOT arrive, please do not call the main office. The packets are not in the main office - they are with the Arts teachers. You can email the Arts teacher, if you like, to inquire if a packet arrived for your child.
If you have any concerns or questions about your picture packet, please call Lifetouch directly. Their number is 888-974-6867. You will need to know your child's ID number.
Retake Day is now scheduled for Monday, October 5th.
Retakes are for:
- students who do not like their original picture packet. Bring the UNCUT picture packet to Retake Day and give it to Lifetouch
- students who have money to take and pay for a picture
- students who were absent on Wednesday, August 26 (middle school) and Thursday, August 27 (high school)
· America’s favorite School Contest is having a contest that is sponsored by Great Schools and could get DSA $20,000. You can see more about it at the following link. It is pretty easy it just requires that people get in and vote.

· A reminder that all juniors will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 14th. They will be taking it in the morning at Johnson and Wales.
A letter from Assistant Principal Miranda Odom, accompanied by a PSAT booklet, was handed out on Monday. In that booklet there is a full length practice test. It is suggested that students take the time to take that test at home sometime in the next two weeks.
Instructions for what to bring, what time to meet, etc – was all contained in the letter.
· Tutoring is up and running. If a student currently has an F in any subject or just would like to have extra help, please see Ms. Dreeszen during the day for room assignments. Information on teachers and rooms will also be available on her website shortly.
· Upcoming dates:
o October 16th-early release Day
o October 19th and 20th-Parent/Teacher Conferences
o October 28th-30th- Fall break
As always, thank you.
