Grades and the Parent Portal

With the advent of the parent portal you can now check your students progress on line. It is my goal to have grades entered by the next day after the due date of a homework assignment and by the end of the week for a test. Please keep the following factors in mind when consulting the parent portal:

1. Due to the sheer number of papers submitted it may take time to get all grades entered.
2. Due to school activities, field trips, student illness, art activities and other unforeseen delays, I may postpone the due date on an assignment. In these cases the portal due date may no longer be accurate.
3. Missing/late homework can be submitted for a score minus penalty. Remember even a low score is better than a 0. Homework in a yellow box is current. Homework in a blue box can be turned in. Homework in a red box will no longer be accepted.
4. A poor test score can be corrected by rewriting the deficient essay(s).
5. I grade on the total semester not on two averaged 9 weeks grade periods. This means that a poor grade on a progress report or 9 weeks report can always be corrected upward. Usually by addressing missing homework or poor test scores.
