Welcome to DSA Preview
Choosing the right school can be a big decision. We want to help you make the best choice possible. DSA Preview offers prospective students and parents the opportunity to learn more about Denver School of the Arts, the academics, the arts as well as having an opportunity to look inside the classrooms. DSA Preview is an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions about classes, major requirements and extracurricular activities, etc.
DSA Preview is NOT part of the audition process. Coming to DSA Preview does not secure you an audition spot. This is simply a time to tour the school, listen to the principal and hear from current DSA parents. Audition information is given at the November/December mandatory pre-audition meetings. Look under the Admissions tab on the DSA website (dsa.dpsk12.org) for online application window and the dates/times for the November/December 2016 mandatory pre audition meetings.
Why don’t we offer DSA Preview in the spring? DSA is an audition-only school. The DSA online application window is from October 10, 2016 – November 18, 2016 at noon. The mandatory pre audition meetings are on November 28 – December 1. Each major’s specific date for their pre audition meeting is listed on the admissions page. Auditions are held in January 2017. Students will find out their acceptance status at the end of January. There are no DSA Preview days in the spring since auditions are complete for the 2017-2018 school year.
Current 8th grade students: Sign up for the AM Session OR the PM session. Do not sign up for both.
DSA Preview is split into 2 parts:
AM Session – current 5th – 8th graders
Space is limited to 125 families per visit.
7:20 – 7:40 Students and parents arrive at DSA. Students/parents may walk the halls and watch the “DSA life” as our students arrive at school
7:40 – 8:30 Parents/students visit with the DSA administration in theatre
8:30 – 9:30 Students/parents will be split into major groups. A parent representative will lead each group from that major. With the assistance of parent volunteers, you will go and visit academic classrooms as well as the classrooms of the major art forms
How to schedule an AM Preview (current 5 – 8 graders)
We will take the first 125 online applications for each day. We ask that families only sign up once to allow the opportunity for other families to participate. Once you’ve signed up, you’re in. We do not call/email to confirm your seat at Preview. We will see you on your DSA Preview day.
