Denver School of the Arts is very proud to be the host of the 2014 Arts Schools Network International Conference from October 22 – 25. The Arts Schools Network is a non-profit association that supports the work of arts schools internationally. As part of this year’s conference, we are pleased to announce a major production taking place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 14th and Curtis Streets. It will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 7:00 pm. On that evening, Denver School of the Arts, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, and Orange County School of the Arts will collaborate in a performance of Karl Orff’s, Carmina Burana. The performance will also include showcase features by each participating school. Carmina Burana will feature a 100-piece orchestra, 126-voice chorus, and 3 movements of interpretive dance. The work is under the direction of Dr. Larry Livingston from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California.
DSA recently received a very generous anonymous donation which is allowing us to provide complimentary tickets for DSA students who are not performing in this collaborative performance. Complimentary student tickets (only one ticket per student) will be available from October 13-17 in the DSA Counseling Center during school hours (7:00 am – 3:30 pm). Transportation to this event is the responsibility of each student who accepts a ticket.
Discounted Carmina Burana tickets are available for DSA families and their guests only at $35 each. To receive the discount price, please call Beki Pineda in the DSA Box Office at 720 424-1713. DSA discount tickets cannot be purchased online. Discounted tickets not purchased through the DSA Box Office by Monday, October 20 will be available in the Ellie Caulkins box office for $50 each one hour prior to the performance. You and your student will not want to miss this incredible evening!
