CMAS, PARCC, SAT and PSAT 10 testing

DSA Community

During the months of March and April, DSA will be giving the CMAS and PARCC tests, the SAT and the PSAT 10. Our teachers have been working hard to give our DSA students the skills they need for both the state test as well as the college entrance test. It is our hope that our students put their best foot forward on these tests – doing their best.

We have altered our bell schedule in order to have testing rooms and proctors available for some of these tests. Other tests will be done during the school day.

There are four days during which certain grade levels will not have school:

Tuesday, March 21
No school for 10, 11, 12 grades

Wednesday, March 22
No school for 10, 11, 12 grades

Monday, April 10
No school for 6th grade

Wednesday, April 12
No school for 9th and 12th grades

We are informing you now for your planning.

You can see the full testing cycle for DSA on the Testing Schedule website:

2017 PARCC – days off for testing
This document gives parents an overview of the 4 days of testing that impact some student attendance. During those days, the students who are tested will be released once they are done. Please understand that the release times are approximate. Testing times will vary from room to room depending on the proctor, technical issues, etc.

2017 PARCC
This document gives parents an overview of the 3 weeks of testing. It is a thorough explanation of what is tested each day.

No phones
As with all testing situations, phones (or any kind of technology) are not allowed in the testing rooms. Phones may also NOT be accessed during breaks. Any phones seen in the testing room or during breaks will be taken and given to Mr. Kohut. Phones/any technology will be held until the end of testing for that particular grade level.

Black/White/Stripe Day changes
There will be numerous days in March and April when the black/white/stripe day rotation changes in grades 8 – 12 because of testing:

Monday, March 20 – stripe
Monday, April 10 – stripe
Tuesday, April 11 – stripe
Wednesday, April 12 – stripe

CMAS Resource from DPS
DPS has put together a resource page for parents which gives a general overview of Colorado state testing – and what we are required to test each spring

If you have general questions about testing, please email Assistant Principal Miranda Odom. If you have questions about accommodations for testing, please email Assistant Principal Aspen Miles.

We appreciate the support of our DSA community during this important testing window.
