Conferences are scheduled on a first come/first serve basis
It is hard to believe that we are already in the fall season and the month of October. Important in the month of October is the close of our first grading period on October 15th and Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 16th and Oct 20th. These conferences are an opportunity to review your child’s progress, both academically and socially. These conferences also allow you to have time to check in on classes in which your child might be struggling or showing frustration.
For Fall 2020, we will have our conference virtually. Instead of the 10 minutes we typically have, our conferences will be 7 minutes. This will allow for overages and a quick teacher break between conferences. While not ideal, these short check ins will allow our DSA parents to meet with parents and share any concerns they have.
Please do NOT log on early. You will come into the meeting of another DSA parent. Please log in at your time.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on October 16th from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm and Tuesday, October 20th from 10:30 pm – 6:00 pm. Because of the limited time on our school calendar to conduct conferences, we must limit the amount of conference slots teachers have available. Teachers will have 7-minute slots spread between the two days of scheduled conferences. Our teachers will also have a 50 minute lunch and 2 30 minute breaks embedded during the day. In order to accommodate as many conference opportunities as possible, we are allocating a total of five (5) 7-minute slots to families who decide to register through our SchoolAppointments online system. This means that families need to prioritize their conferences with teachers who they really want to see due to concerns either in their child’s academic classes, arts major, or elective classes. Conferences will be scheduled through SchoolAppointments on a first-come, first-serve basis. Again, we ask that you understand we can only accommodate 74 conferences per teacher which is less than 1/2 of a typical teacher’s student load.
SchoolAppointments will allow you to create an account and then sign up for 7-minute conference slots. Parents will be able to schedule conferences starting on Sunday, October 4th at 5:00 p.m. Parents will have until October 4th at 5:00 p.m. through 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 15th to schedule a conference with a teacher. After 5:00 pm on the 15th, you will no longer be able to sign-up for conferences through SchoolAppointments.com.
If you are not able to get a signup time for a teacher which you want to speak to, please reach out to that teacher individually to set up a time to meet and talk.
The link for parents to sign up for conferences is http://dsa.schoolappointments.com. Again, the online system will not allow you to register and set up appointments until October 4th at 5:00 p.m.
We sincerely hope that you are able to schedule and attend conferences with your child’s teachers. At DSA we strongly believe that good school relationships and collaboration allow a child to thrive and succeed.
