NHS Service Project – Donation Drive Details and FAQ!

Hi NHS!  Just a follow-up on the details of the Denver Dumb Friends League donation drive as we’ve gotten some questions about it, with an FAQ!

Just a follow-up on the details of the Denver Dumb Friends League donation drive as we’ve gotten some questions about it, with an FAQ!

• Q: What kind of donations? Are we donating money? 
  • A: Sorry for the confusion- No! We are collecting supplies for the DDFL. Not money! 

• Q: How many supplies do we need to donate? What does “substantial amount” mean in that email?
  • A: If you are able, please donate 3-5 items from the list depending on what is possible for your circumstances.
  • Also see the website about fleece fabric that we can use in our cat-bed workshop, which you can also donate!

• Q: What if I can’t afford to donate supplies? What does “substantial amount” mean in the email? 
  • A: Reusing & Recycling: We strongly suggest first looking in your home to see if you have any items on the needed list that you aren’t using! Sustainability is epic and if your supplies are in good condition for reuse, please feel free to donate them! (Especially if cost is an issue.)
    • Some examples of used and new common household items in good condition might be:
      • Paper towels (new)
      • Lightly used large dog toys
      • Boxes of Ziploc sandwich bags (new)
      • Cardboard egg cartons
      • Adult shoe boxes
  • A: If for whatever reason, you aren’t able to purchase or find recycled supplies, please reach out and send us an email. We’ll find an alternative way for you to participate in the service project. Trinity’s email here:714582@dpsk12.net

  • A: Donation Center – Dumb Friends League (ddfl.org) Go to the tab “Supplies” (screenshot below)!

Stole Ceremony Date: We confirmed the Stole Ceremony’s date on Monday. May 13th. Juniors and Seniors need to be there, since it’s our final NHS Ceremony for the year!

Cat blanket workshop: Join us for cat blanket/bed making workshop on 4/30 and 5/2 (Tuesday and Thursday next week). To people who have performances and rehearsals, we’ve heard you and will be planning additional make-up workshop dates, so stay tuned if you are in those groups!

The DSA – NHS Tutoring Program

NHS tutoring is an essential part of our students academic success here at DSA and is a welcome opportunity for younger students to receive help in any academic subject. Tutoring will take place after school every Monday and Tuesday in the cafeteria starting 10/23/23. The tutoring program is a double time service hour commitment and will be staffed by volunteers and the NHS officers. Please let Mr. Hegarty know if you would like to tutor.
