Chloé AbelDanceHello! My name is Chloé-Grant Abel and I am the Co-Director of Dance here at DSA. I received my BFA in Dance with an emphasis in Ballet/Modern Performance from UMKC and have been teaching and dancing professionally for over 18yrs. Most recently, I was the Rehearsal Director and an Ensemble Member with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance from 2011-2023. My students are my WHY-- they give me purpose and inspire me to be better everyday. I also enjoy thrifting on the weekends and long walks with my 2 pups Saint and Soul.
Mark Agamaite7th Grade MathI am the 7th grade math teacher. I have been teaching at DSA for 15 years and have 25 years of experience in public education. I love seeing the ah hah moment for students when something in class finally clicks. I enjoy movies and game nights with family and friends.
Scott AstonHS Math/Senior Team LeanI have been teaching Mathematics for 11 years, but this is my second year at DSA. This year I am excited to be teaching AP Statistics and Math 3. My undergraduate background was split between Economics and Political Science at the University of Utah and I strive to bring that knowledge to bear in my math classroom. When I am not teaching, I love reading, watching prestige TV shows, and hiking whenever I can!
Billie Jo Baer
HS EnglishHi everyone. I'm a high school English and creative writing teacher with over 14 years teaching experience. While I love teaching, my first love is performing, especially acting. My very first role was as Achoo, the Mouse that saved Christmas in the 4th grade (so one or two years ago). When I am not at school, I can be found in my kitchen (baking), on a 4 wheel drive trail with my husband, reading, or binge watching the latest season of some phenomenal show. (think Stranger Things or Squid Game).
Stephen BlackwellHS SpEdI’m a high school special education teacher in my first year in this role, transitioning from teaching 7th grade science. This is my fourth year at DSA and my seventh year in the classroom overall. I enjoy spending time outdoors, watching football, and relaxing with my wife, Ady, and our cat, Luna.

James Christensen7th Grade Social StudiesI'm so excited to teach 7th Grade Social Studies this year! This will be my fifth year in DPS. I started out teaching Elementary Math at University Prep then ran the Discovery Link program at Steck Elementary. I studied Anthropology at Vassar College in New York. I love to spend my free time with my cats and fiancee as we get ready for our wedding in November!
CliffVisual ArtsCliff is an Art Educator and Director of the Denver School of the Arts Visual Arts Department in Denver Colorado teaching 6th-12th Grade Visual Arts. He attended Youngstown State University earning a B.S. in Art Education and a B.F.A. in Studio Art, with a painting emphasis, as well as a Masters Degree in Art Education and Painting. During college he served as Assistant Preparer at both the McDonough Museum of Art and the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, providing Cliff with extensive knowledge about the presentation of art. Cliff brought his passion and skill to Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio where he taught Art and Graphic Design for 10 years. Now living in Denver Colorado, Cliff continues to teach visual art and create. Cliff incorporates line, shape and color along with surface manipulation techniques while working with spray paint. In his artwork he conveys emotions as well as reactions to the world around him. He explores personal landscapes often including integrated collage and design while working on wood panels.
Sean DamonHS Math/Assessment CoordinatorI am a High School Math Teacher and School Assessment Lead with 13 years of experience at a charter school, serving in roles including math teacher, department chair, GT lead, and K–12 assessment coordinator. I earned my undergraduate degree in Math Education from UNC Greeley, my master’s in Math Education from CU Denver, and recently completed my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from UNC Greeley. Outside of school, I share my home with three dogs (Stella, Ziggy, and Luna) and three cats (Winter, Phoebe, and Ozzy), and I also work with Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue as an adoption and logistics coordinator.
Terrell DavisDanceI'm a proud middle school and high school dance educator. I've danced professionally and taught dance in the Denver for over 25 years. My passion for dance education and concert dance is great! We dance not just to entertain others. We dance to invite others inside of our word 🙂

Ben DonnellyHS Social Studies/Senior Team LeadI’m the AP U.S. History teacher and a Senior Team Lead/Instructional Coach at DSA, where I’ve been teaching since 2011. I earned my degree in History and Political Science and am passionate about helping students think critically and connect the past to the present. Outside of school, I enjoy playing hockey, racing bikes, and spending time with my wife and son.

I have over 20 years experience, teaching a variety of English and history classes, with this being my tenth year at DSA. Kevin FoxHS Social StudiesI'm a high school teacher with about 16 years of professional experience in public education, including 12 years at Denver School of the Arts. I studied history and political science with a secondary education endorsement and received a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Kentucky. After graduating from UK in my hometown, I moved to Colorado after joining Teach for America and officially began my teaching career in Colorado Springs. I love helping students find their deep passions and maximum potential in their academic skills, interpersonal interactions, and in their leadership/community engagement. I am a proud father of two little kiddos and partner to a fantastic HS math teacher, so we especially enjoy spending our summers together, all the while hiking, skiing, skating, and playing outside anytime we can!

Dr. Ryan GarrisonVocal MusicThis is my seventh year as Director of Vocal Music at DSA, and the start of my 25th year of teaching. I have degrees from the University of Wyoming (BM) and Arizona State University (MM, DMA). I have the best job in the world, teaching the "beginning and the end" of Vocal Music (6/7 Treble Choir and 10-12 Chorale). Outside of DSA, I enjoy my "seasonal" activities; Fall: College football (Go Cowboys and Sun Devils!), Winter: Skiing, Spring: gardening and summer planning :), and Summer: Camping, Fishing, and travel!

Prior to working in education, I spent 18 years as an advertising creative working primarily on sports and outdoor brands. My wife and I have three kids, two are current DSA students and the oldest graduated from DSA in 2024.
Kaeleigh GrizzleTheatreHi! I am one of the 6th-12th grade theatre teachers, and I am so excited to be starting my teaching journey at DSA. I am so thrilled to begin working with the students as they grow as artists. I recently graduated from UNCO, studying theatre education and theatre design & technology. When I'm not at school, I'm probably reading a new book or watching college football (go Longhorns!).

When I was 21 years old I had a teaching internship at a summer school program in Queens in NY and have been teaching ever since. Shawn HannTheatreShawn Hann, She/Her (Director of Theatre): has an MFA in Directing from Roosevelt University/Chicago College of the Performing Arts and BA in Communication/Theatre Arts Education from University of Northern Iowa. 2025-26 school year is Mrs. Hann’s 25th year as the Director of Theatre at Denver School of the Arts, 32nd year teaching. Living in Conifer in the mountains with her family and her chickens/ducks/turkey/dogs keeps her on her toes and head in the trees and fresh air. Excited to share this year with her SENIOR DSA Theatre Major daughter, Tihun Hann.

Joseph KarwinHS EnglishMy name is Joseph Karwin. This will be my 14th year teaching. I have taught middle school, high school, and college English, creative writing, film, speech, leadership, and mythology. I am excited to start my fourth year at DSA teaching AP Language and Composition as well as Film Studies. I also run the DSA Speech and Debate team. I love writing, watching movies, and playing golf.
Heidi KinsellaMS SpEdGoing into my 10th year as a DSA parent, I’m now grateful to join the community as a Special Education teacher. During my 20+ years as an educator in the Denver Metro area, I've worked with ECE through adult learners, from teaching Literacy and Special Education K-12 in various settings, to teaching and advising in the Teacher Ed department at Regis University. Outside of work, I like to be in the woods, and I’m a soccer and basketball mom of three big kids. I’m also a dog mom of two sweet but naughty furry friends

I studied English, film and education at Colorado College. I've also worked as a freelance music journalist for over 30 years, covering the local and national music scene alongside my photographer husband Michael for a variety of different media outlets. Helping build community- in my department, at DSA, in the Denver arts scene- has been a huge joy and honor of my life.
Melissa Murphy6th Grade Social StudiesI'm the 6th grade social studies teacher, in my 16th year of teaching and have experience teaching all age levels from ECE up to high school. I earned my teaching credential and MA in curriculum and instruction from DU. My favorite part of teaching is helping my students connect and apply historical and social themes to their own lives. When I’m not teaching, you can find me wrangling my two boys (ages 6 and 9), planning my next trip, or working on my next home makeover project.

I’m passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Natasha Olson-SmithGuitarI am the Director of Guitar Studies with over 20 years experience as a professional guitarist performing and running my own private music studio. I am entering my 4th year at DSA and teach both middle and high school guitar majors along with Honors Music Theory and the Beginning Guitar Elective for Non-Majors. I am the owner and CEO of a successful private music studio in the Denver area and studied guitar at the University of Denver, University of Miami, CU-Boulder, Berklee School of Music, and Carmen de las Cuevas in Granada, Spain. Prior to coming to DSA, I regularly had over 60 students in my music studio teaching guitar, ukulele, and bass to all different ages, levels, and genres. My students have gone on to attend several music colleges and become professional musicians performing across the country, recording artists, and working as a songwriter for major artists in Nashville. As a performer, I've played both as a classical guitar soloist and with vocalists, flutists, cellists, violinists, and other guitarists. I have performed for weddings, cocktail hours, major corporate events, and at several high profile events. I am also one half of the guitar duo in The Wabash Cannonballs. If I'm not playing or teaching guitar, then I am watching YouTube videos about guitar, guitar gear, or guitarists along with going to concerts, spending time with my family (two teenage boys!), my dog, and my husband -- a fellow guitarist and the other half of the Wabash Cannonballs. We love to spend time as a family both at home, exploring Colorado, or traveling the world.
Michael PaulezBandMichael Paulez is the Director of Bands at Denver School of the Arts, where he leads the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Jazz Workshop Orchestra. He previously founded the band program at Riverdale Ridge High School and taught at Westminster and Wheat Ridge High Schools. He holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a Master’s in Music Education with a conducting focus from the University of Colorado Boulder. Outside the classroom, he performs on euphonium with the Colorado Wind Ensemble and other regional groups. He enjoys exploring the mountains, attending concerts, and spending time with his husband, their son, and their German shepherd.
Seamus PeartDance ElectiveI’m a guest artist in the Dance Department, teaching Jazz technique and the Hip-Hop elective. I studied Dance at the California Institute of the Arts and currently dance in the department director Terrell Davis’s dance company. This is my fourth year teaching at DSA and my eighth year as a member of the DSA family, as I graduated from the school in 2017. My main goal as a teacher is to help young artists achieve their true potential through dedication and persistence. When I’m not dancing or teaching, you can most likely bet I’m at the movie theater enjoying the newest films.

Olga Pillitteri6th Grade MathI am a dedicated 6th grade math teacher with over 25 years of experience in education, having started my teaching career in 1992. I hold a Master’s degree in Education as well as a second Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics. My passion lies in helping students build strong mathematical foundations and develop a love for learning.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy traveling and exploring different cultures around the world, which enriches both my personal life and teaching perspective.
Miranda PoppCreative WritingI am one of two Creative Writing Directors; this is my 8th year at DSA, my 5th year in Creative Writing, and my 13th year of teaching overall. I am a National Board Certified Teacher with experience in designing and implementing curriculum for everything from 8th Grade Language Arts to AP Literature, LGBTQ+ Literature, and Film Studies. I majored in Secondary Education and English with a minor in Philosophy at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. When I'm not coming up with wacky ways to engage my students in their writing craft and/or making a fool of myself in front of 35+ teenagers, you can find me doing the weirdest things possible, including but not limited to: growing crystals on bones and insect specimens; building bioactive enclosures for exotic animals; turning ostrich eggs into mini dioramas; and, to steal verbiage from one of my favorite poets, Rudy Francisco, "trying to convince my shadow that I'm someone worth following."

Originally from Boston I have a love for music, and was Classically trained, later learning Jazz, and playing for the adult and youth choir at my church. I am blessed to be here, and in my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, study the Bible, and run marathons. I have lived in Denver for 14 years, and I love creating a classroom where students can explore the French language while discovering the rich cultures and diverse perspectives of the Francophone world. I studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Northern Colorado. Although I grew up in Colorado, I really love to travel and create new memories with my 2 year old daughter, Alice.
Mary WildeHS EnglishI am a high school English teacher at DSA with 17 years of experience, including 14 years teaching AP Literature and Composition. I am passionate about everything English-class related – reading, writing, grammar, literary analysis – and love sharing that enthusiasm with my students.
I love reading and writing in my spare time (can you even trust an English teacher that doesn’t?). I also enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my husband, two daughters, son-in-law, granddaughter, and miniature schnauzer.
As an educator, I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged. I hope that students leave my class enjoying English – or at least hating it a little bit less.

I work at DSA three days per week primarily supporting our students on 504 Plans. The other two days each week I am in a Senior Team Lead role with the Department of Mental Health supporting social workers and school psychologists across the district. I love to run and cheer on my two kids at their various sports games.

I earned my masters degree in counseling at the University of Colorado at Denver. I value an educational community that supports students' internal motivation, passions and creativity. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, listening to music and cooking.

My tech support therapy cat’s name is Spencer. My first cat was a SabreTooth. I used to teach professional ballroom dancing and I am also an artist. Beki PinedaBox OfficeI was hired 13 years ago to manage the box office for DSA as it grows bigger each year. I started my career as a teacher with a BA in Education, worked office management jobs for twenty years, then got back to theatre my first love. I have worked in nearly every theatre in town, serving as a sound or light technician, stage manager, actor, and prop designer. I have been a theatre writer for 20 years at FrontRowCenterDenver.net and teach two theatre classes at Colorado Free University that are designed to enhance audience development. I'm still here because I love to watch your kids grow and blossom. Being a small part of that is enough.
